ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
TWO INQUESTS. Yesterday Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, Coroner, held two inquests. The first was in respect to Sarah Holloway, a widow. On October 21, at 9.30 a.m., Mrs. Holloway went for a short walk, returning- an hour later, when she complained of a difficulty in breathing. She was helped into her room by her daughter, who then went to bring Dr. Ewart, hut on tho arrival of the latter Mrs. Holloway was found dead. Dr. Fyffe, who made a post-mortem examination, declared the cause of death to ho duo to pneumonia in the left lung, and a verdict to this effect was returned.
An inquest was also hold touching the death of Julius Ahlers, of Cliilka Street, who collapsed while endeavouring to board a tram. Dr. F.yffe, who held a post-mortem examination, state_d that deceased had Buffe.red from fatty degeneration of the heart, and the exertion taken after a full meal caused heart failure. The Coroner's verdict was in accordance with the medical evidenco.

Taihape, October 26. A boy named Gartner, aged eleven years, was run over by a train at Hihitahi last evening and killed. NGAIO RESIDENT DROPS DEAD. By Telegraph—Press Association. New Plymouth, October 26. A mail named Frederick Pratt droppcdsdead at 7 o'clock this evening on the road near'the railway station. He was employed at the . new A.M.P. buildings. Deceased was_ a married man and a resident of Ngaio, Wellington. Ho leaves a widow and family of six, of whom two sons are at the front. TAILOR HANGS HIMSELF. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, October 26. A tailor named Gcorgo Stew, 45 years of age, was found hanging by a ropo from a hook in his bedroom. < The inquest was opened, but was adjourned. DEATH UNDER AN ANAESTHETIC. Auckland, October 26. A boy, aged two years a?d four months, named Rangi Tawa Tirimoana, died under an anaesthetic at tlio hospital during a minor operation. At tlie inquest a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure.
