22nd REINFORCEMENTS
OFFICERS AND N.C.0.'8 BETTER TRAINED. ; Tliere are no indjeations of any fall-ing-off in the physical appeaTance and qualities of the recruits for the later drafts of Reinforcements. The Twentyseconds, of whom the bulk are in training at Treutham, are a fin© looking body of men, and altogether this draft may bo regarded' as the best, physically at least, that has been in camp for some months past. In addressing the Twenty-seconds yesterday the Camp Commandant, Lieut.-Colonel H. R. Potter, told the men that they had an excellent opportunity of becoming the best trained draft that had left New Zealand, inasmuch as their offiers and ti.c.o.'s had had a. longer period of training than the officers and n.c.o.'s of earlier Reinforcements. This was'in accordanco with the new order which provided that officers and n.c.o.'s' should receive three months' training, instead of two months, before their men came into camp..
The Twenty-first, Infantry Reinforcements, who attracted attention by their rapid progress- in drill and marching, continue to be a smart draft.
