Ootobcr 25, 6.45 p.m.) | London, Octobcr 24. i At the wool sales 7639 bales were offered, | of which 4944 -were irom New Zealand. There was a good soloetion of slipes ana crossbreds, and a small inigccllancons i selection of merinos. Thcro was a large attendance, and keen competition, enfcirciy amongst tho home trade. Merinos advanced 5 per cent, owing to an extraordinary scarcity, largely duo to tho nonarrival of tho South African now clip, I which tho "United Slates is buying above ! Yorkshire limits. Crossbrods were from 1 par to 8. per ccnt. advance.
Tho outlook is satisfactory. Tho milis havo full orders, but thoro is a difficulty in securing labour, owing to military needs. T.ho Government has arranged with, the Labour unions to allow -women to work at certain combing establishments. It is expected that the combs will bo kept fully going.
