AM) A GREAT NIGHT. Effort is now being concentrated to raiso funds for Red Cross work at the front. This is no ordinary demand, but is 0110 which has come from England—an urgent appeal for fund's for tho vast amount of purely humanitarian work which has boon caused to a great extent by the big British push forward in the North of Franco. Our casualty lists inform us how serious that great offensive was to tho participating forces, and Mr. Bernard Tripp recently annomicod that tho wounded wove being transferred across the Channel from Prance at the rato of 7000 per day. Such evidence must make the very strongest appeal to the hearts and pockots of every patriotic member of the Empire.
One of the big features in connection with "Our Day" (to-morrow week) will bo tho big torchlight procession that is boing organised to take place in tho City in tho ovening. Numerous hands will participate, the Mayor will bo at tho head of tho column, and a fine display of illuminated and decorated niotor-cars are expected to form a dazzling feature. Prizos aro to lo given for tho best 1 illuminated itfld docoratcd car. Tho Firo Brigade is to turn out in style, and sevoraf tableaux on (motor lorries) will roflect tlio signs of tho times. One of theso will he provided bv members of liio Returned Soldiers' Club.
