NEW ZEALAND LINER. IN PERILOUS WATERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, October 25. The steamer AVaimana, which arrived from London tbis morning, .had an exciting experience early in September. When sixty miles off TJshant, information was 'received from a neutral ship that a German submarine was ten miles ahoad, the neutral vessel having on board the survivors from a British ship which had beon sunk by the submarine. The Waimana zigzagged, and met aji English steamer, od laden. The latter was warned of the_ proximity of the submarine. A few minutes later shots were hoard, shots being exchanged between the submarine and the oil ship. The Waimana received a "5.0.5." call from the English ship, but almost immediately came a second message saying that the submarine had frone away. Tho rest of the Waimana/s voyage was uneventful.
