An assemblage of six hundred peopls; attended the New Zealand reception to Mr. Massey's and Sir Joseph Ward's ' party at the Hotel Cecil. The High! Commissioners and Agents-General oE the Oversea Dominions were present. ! Mr. Massey, in thanking those pre* sent for their welcome, expressed his! appreciation of what Anglo-New Zea--landers had done for the Dominion's troops, especially for the sick and wounded, and also for the way they,! had kept up Netf Zealand's prestige in' the Old Country. He briefly outlined, what the Domiilion had done in the'; war, and added : "Whenever and wher- i, ever tho war shall end, New Zealand;,' will be there. New Zealand is able to! go on doing what she has done for 1 quite a long time." The National Government, he added, had worked 1 smoothly. In the mission, upon whicli; Sir Joseph Ward and he had come: they represented a. united New Zea-! land. .. >1' Sir Joseph Ward expressed histhanksj and said he believed thab whatever! might he the opinion in. England, therai was no doubt that after the war the® must oreate the machinery by which toi co-ordinate, the interests of the Em-ii pire.
