THE KING OF FORGERS.
"PENMAN" TO INTERNATIONAL SWINDLERS. For being concerned with Henry Bruce and Henry Vaughan, now undergoing penal servitude, who gave evidence, in forging' a document purporting to he a. will, OSoorgo sfennedy (or Konnaway), 45, was sentencsd at tho Old Bailey recently to ten years' penal servitude, and' William ITaun, 04, to live years. Gerald Konnaway, who was educated at Oambrktgo University, is generally recognised to bo the cleverest of forgers. When any criminal wanted anything done with a pen he sought out Keiiiiaway, while tho "crooks" of America recognised him as their master. "Jim tho Penman," said a police officer, "was a. novice compared with him. What Keiwaway could not do with a pen in tho matter of copying a signaturo no mancoulcMo; ho could copy anything in five minutes." There, was always an unmistakable iiall mark about liis work. But it was often impossible to bring homo to him auy particular 'offence. Ho was far too valuable, to tho erhniral community for anyone to give him away.
