MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning, and dealt with the following cases:—
l'or insobriety, three first offenders were convicted and discharged—Linda O'Connor, Against whom fhere wero tour previous convictions; was fined 605., the alternative being 21 days' imprisonment, and Charles' M'JJonald, with one previous conviction, was fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Piiillis Banks, a girl of 18 years of' ago, pleaded guilty to tho theft of a suit case and contents valued at £7 os. Gd., the property of. Mrs. Gray. The theft took place at Auckland on October 10. Inspector Hendrey said the girl was married to a returned soldier, and that she was on tho down track. She was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, on condition that she entered tho' Salvation Army institution, and remains there for a period of 12 months. A plea of guilty was entered by Horace James Doigj who was charged with the theft of ono rolled gold watch and one metal watch, of the vahio of £5 3s. Gd., the property of J. G. Sheehau. The Magistrate decided to give the accused a chance, and ho was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence'when called upon.
