SOLDIERS' CHRISTMAS
THE GIFT FUND, £2307.
'A meeting of tho Citizens' Gift Fund Committee was held on Friday night, Mr. A. Marryatt presiding. Tho following motions of condolence were carried:—
"The committee of- the Associated Amateur Sports Bodies offer thoir heartfelt sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Wilson in the loss sustained by tho death at the front of their son, Captain Louis Gildert Wilson."
"The committee of the Associated Sport 6 Bodies offer to the relatives of the late Sorgt. John Wood thoir decpost sympathy in their sad bereavement."
The balance-sheet presented showed that tho total receipts to date were £2307 Bs. 3d. This money was raised as follows:—Direct appeal, £1275 Bs. 2d.; sale of flowers, £70 145.; sale of flowers and badges, £104 12s. 7d.; strcot collection, £369 13s. Id.; collection of bottles, £100; salo'of poultry, £7 13s. 7d.; Basin Reserve Fete, £li 4 15s. 3d.; Wellington Football Association match gate, £13 19s. 6d.; Savage Club, £70; Marble Bar opening (including , £32 ss. -10d. for salo'of flowers), £67 325. 7(1.; Professor Norwood's entertainment, £112 19s. 6d. Goneral satisfaction was expressed with tho result achieved. A vote of thanks was accorded to the donors of flowers, and to the Boy Scouts/ to tho Highland Society, the concert party, and tho proprietors of the Albert, Barrett's, Greshara, and Duko of Edinburgh Hotels. Other helpers had received letters of thanks.
