RUSSO-RUMANIAN COUNTER OFFENSIVE ! BIG BATTLE ON THE . ' RUSSIAN FRONT 1 EVE OF IMPORTANT DECISION RECRUITING CRISIS IN IRELAND The news from the Rumanian battle front, where a grave military crisis had developed during tho past few days, is reassuring. The Rumanians, apparently heavily reinforced by the Russians, have launched counter-blows on several sectors, particularly in the region of Predeal, which have had the result, says one correspondent, of compelling Von Falkenayn and Von Mackensen to mark time, so to speak, pending the arrival of reinforcements. The news from Greece to-day discloses an atmosphere of general unrest, not to say gravity. The King, on receiving from the hands of the Premier tho Allies' latest Note, grow very angry, and high words resulted. The Allies' demands, however, have been, accepted. Tho Allies' .offensive against tho Bulgars is progressing. On the Western front the weather is hampering the operations of tho British! The French have completed the capture of Saiilly Saillisel, and aaidvanced beyond. A .great conflict is. reported to have been raging—and still is raging —on the Russian front, whero Genioral Brusiloff is 6tated to be developing a dramatic stroko. Mr. Jolui Redmond, the Irish Nationalist leader, has raised tho Irish question again in the House of Commons, and made strong complaints about the attitude of the Homo Government on the question of rocruiting in Ireland.
