MAN JUMPS INTO A RIVER. I (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, October 17. A man named John O'Leary twice jumped into the Ruamahanga River this morjjing, but on neither occasion did he succeed in drowning. Ho then walked to Masterton and gave himself up to the police. Ho was brought before the Court, and as he had obviously been drinking lie was remanded to Wellington for a week's medical' treatment. CHILD FALLS INTO BOILING WATER. Br Telegraph—Press Association. Ghristchurch, October 17. Thomas West, aged four years,, fell into a bath of boiling* water and was so severely scalded that lie died after removal to the Hospital. MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT. A little girl, Maud* Sharp, was knocked down by a motor cycle yesterday, and had her leg broken. She was admitted to the Hospital late last evening. A boy named Roberts, aged seven years, rosiding at Brooklyn, was knocked down by a motor cycle at Brooklyn, and sustained a fracture of the right leg. He was admitted to the Hospital at 5.45 last evening.
