The Prime Minister (the Right Hon* W. F. Massey) has telegraphed to the Hon. J. Allen to say that all the members of the New Zealand party in England are well. Lieutenant George Massey, the Prime Minister's son, itas been at Home on ten days' leave. Ha also is fit.
Chaplain-Captain M. Mullineux, who has been stationed at Tauherenikau Camp, has been transferred to Trentham.
Dr. R. H. Baxter has resigned his position in the Wellington Hospital, and has_ been accepted by the Defence authorities for active service. He went into thp N.Z.M.C. Camp at Awapuni on Monday last, and expects to get. away with the Nineteenth Reinforcements.
Lieut.-Colonel W. R. C. Walker, 4th, Waikato, Mounted Rifles, was to leavo for Trenthain Camp on Monday. Colonel Walker has been appointed to command the Twenty-Fifth Reinforcements (states the "N.Z. Herald"). Mr. Harold H. Ebey. representing xt Steamsliip Corporation of New York, who has been visifciug. Australia in connection with the appointment of agents for the Luckenbach Line, arrived in Wellington by the Riverina from Sydney on Monday. Mr. Ebey visited Wellington a fow months back. '
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Dentice, of Tasman Street, liave received word that" tii'eir son, Lance-Corporal A. L. Dentice, who left with the' Ninth Reinforcements and was wounded on September' 21, is now lying dangerously ill from gunshot wounds in the hack and lungs at - No. IS General Hospital, Rouen.
Word has.been received in Masterton that Lieutenant Leslie Maunsell, of the_ machine-gun section of the Imperial Forces, and third son of Sir. J. L. Maunsell, of Eridge, Masterton, has received a gunshot wound in the chest while in action in France.
Mr. J. B. Clarkson, managing director of Messrs. J. B. Clarkson and Co., Ltd., reached Wellington • yesterday after a five months' business trip to Canada, the United States,- England, and France.

The latest ' casualty list includes among the killed the name of Private Charles Wm. H. Bould, of Johnsonville. In the early volunteering days Private Bould was a sergeant in the Wellington Guards. He enlisted for active service in 1899, and left New Zealand for South Africa with the First Contingent. He had war decorations for Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, and Diamond Hill. At the conclusion of the South African trouble he returned to New Zealand, but enlisted again when the first call was made in August, 1914, and went to Samoa- On his return he volunteered for active service abroad.
Advice has been received 'by Mr.John Smith, Boseneath, of the death of his eldest son, John B. Smith, who died of wounds on Ootober 6, aged 23 years. He was educated at Roseneath Public School, where he gained a. scholarship. After two years at Wellington Coljege he entered the service of the Union Steam Ship Company, and for a number of years was purser on the company's ships. He joined the Xrtillery, and left with the Eighth reinforcements, being attached to the ammunition column, in which'he was serving to the. last.
On Saturday last the Paraparaumtl fruit-growers showed the esteem in wTiich they hold Mr." T. C. Webb, Government Orchard Instructor, by presenting him with an illuminated address and a wristlet watch, on tbo eve of Jus going into camp. . There was a good attendance of settlers at the little gathering, those present including Mr. T, ! W. Kirk, F.L.S., Director of the Horticultural Division of the Department of Agriculture.
Reports have been circulated to the effect that "Big Tree" benzine _ and other products liav.e black-listed. We are requested by tho New Zealand importers and proprietors of this brand, Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., to give the statement an. unqualified denial. We are informed that the agents at tho port of shipment were put on the prohibited list, but 6iich agents are not the producers or refiners of the goods.' Tho New Zealand Government authorities have been satisfied and have willingly consented to "Big Tree" products being imported, provided the shipping agents were altered. This Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., gladly arranged. We are as-; sured that there is no question of. enemy trading in regard to "Big Tree" - products, and that ample supplies of j these oils are coming forward, so that' users need fear no shortage.
Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, Coroner, held; an inquiry yesterday afternoon into the cause of tho death of Agnes Robertson, a single woman, who was found dead in a wliare at Paremata on Friday last. ■Dr. Fyffe, who made the post-mortem examination, stated that all the organs were vory much congested, and the mucous membrane of the stomach was : separated from the tissue below, which could only have been causcd by severe alcohol or other irritant poison. There, were some bruises on the face, probably caused by falling out of bed, an_d_ it was not improbable from the position of the body that death may have been due to suffocation. The inquest was adjourned to allow of an analysis being made of the contents of tho stomach.
The owner of the "Dartmoor" Estate, Hawke's Bay (Mr. Lowry North), has now definitely decided to withdraw the property from sale as a whole, and has instructed Messrs.
