COMMANDEERED MEAT
MESSAGE SENT TO MR. MASSEY
The Hon. James Allen, Acting-Prime Minister, in acknowledging receipt of the copies of the resolutions passed at ,the meeting of sheepowners and others held at Christchurch oh .October 4, has advised; Mr. F. H. Labatt, secretary of the Canterbury Sheepowners' Union, that ho immediately cabled the Prime Minister on the matter (says the "Lyxtelton. Times").
Mr/Allen added: "The Bight Hon. W: F. Massey was fully aware of the position with regard to meat supply in England before he left, and the matter was more .than once discussed in Cabinet. A telegram was sent to him on the 7th inst.,'reviewing the whole of the circumstances, and I feel sure he will give every attention to the matter and that the interests of New Zealand'producers, will be safely conserved so far as he is able to do so."
