HUMOUR
It has been said of the British peoples that they "take their pleasures sadly," implying a lack of humour, but that this is an erroneous, impression is, amply demonstrated by the patronage ' accorded to humorous and satirical papers, published in all parts of the Empire.' It is beyond all question that the foremost of all such papers is the London "Punch," a journal that has for many long years given in lighter vein the events that have gone to the making of history. Always clean and clever in caricature, and in writing, "Punch" has been quoted the wide world over, designs from its pages have been freely reproduced, and by people in all stations of life this eminent paper has,been 6ought after for tho relief it affords from the depression that even the most fortunate experience at times. Perhaps never before has the "Punch" staff dons better or greater work than during the war period form. 1914 to tho present day—and- a finer investment could not well be made than the purchase of the TOlumes of the war period. By special arrangement the proprietors of this paper have been empowered to offer for two guineas three bound volumes (1914-1915) and the unbound parts for 1916. In the crdinary way the price would be 535. Cd., so that the offer represents a considerable concession, and the opportunity is one that none should lightly allow to pass. On receipt of a remittance addressed "Manager, The Dominion, Wellington/' for the amount named, the first volume (July-December, 19H) will be immediately posted, the other two volumes and parts for 1910 following from London.
