A German communique declares that the English attacks north-west of l'hlepval from the Le Sars-Gueudecourt lino failed. The enemy six times advanced fruitlessly at Saflly. Repeated French attack's failed south of the Somme. FRENCH CAIN CROUND. GAS FACTORY SHELLED. (Rec. October 13, 10.25 p.m.) Paris, October 12. A French communique says: "Wo ■gained ground westward of Sailly Saillisel. Wo shelled an asphyxiating gas factory near Mulhouse, causing a great conflagration."
