ORIENTAL BAY PARADE
Members of the executive' of tho Greater Wellington Town' Planning aud Municipal Electors' Association waited upon the Mayor (Mr. J. I'. Luke), on 'Thursday afternoon, and presented tho following resolution:—"That the executive of the Greater Wellington Town Planning and Municipal Electors' Association, lia.ving m view tho welfare of the children, urgo the City Council to adqpt tho suggestion to construct a 6ft. of Bft. overhang to the esplanade at Oriental Bay, thereby procuring the full width of roadway as originally provided for by tho City Engineer, and at thts' same time preserving the bcacli, which is the only seasido playground for many of the children of tho city." TRo Mayor, with the leader of the deputation, Mr. T. Hallinger, and tho City Engineer, visited the Bay, and it was seen that the project-was not practicable, since thcro is a height of loss thaii sft. from the sea. level to the footway.'
