THE I.W.W. TREASON TRIALS
MORE SENSATIONAL EVIDENCE BURNING DOWN SYDNEY By TalenraDh-Press Association-Copyriclit (Rec. October 12, 10 p.m.) Sydney, October 12. The sensational developments in tho hearing of the treason charges against certain members of the I.W.W. organisation are exciting the keenest interest. A chemist who was formerly a member- of the I.W.W. gave evidence that shortly after the war began he delivered lectures in the rooms of the organisation on elementary chemistry and the manufacture of cxplosivos. When tho action of phosphorus/n taneous combustion was discussed, members freely stated that the only way to stop conscription was to create rioting, break shop windows, and burn Sydney down.. One said he knew of three firemen, I.W.W. men, who would bold the water pressure back. The chief officer of the Fire' Brigade stated that it was a curious fact that all the fires within the past few months had occurred in buildings not, connected with the fire.brigade. All were without sprinklers or fire alarms.
