Grain merchants frankly recognise that tbey cannot expect to repeat the profits earned hitherto, but expect' the Government to conduct the trade through existing channels; "Tho Times" adds: "Consumers who-expeot full, prices may be disappointed." The wheat, trade is at_ a. standstill, as the merchants are waiting to see the effect. of the Government's action. The Wheat. Commission has issued a. circular to the trade, announcing that it is prepared to take. over,.. At'..last Monday's fair market price, all holdings or contracts then ..existing... for wheat and flour. •. All wheat and flour, controlled by the Commission will ho Bold through the customary channels % firms appointed by the' Government as agents. _ The action of the Commission is not intended in any way to restrict free dealing in stocks of wheat and flour not bought by the Commission.
