« : CAPTAIN DAVIS AT DUNEDIN. \ By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, October 11.. Captain John Davis reached Dunedin last 'night Fy train from tho Bluff, at which port lio arrived yesterday in. tho Paloona from Melbourne. A. telegram from Wellington last week stated that Captain Davis will command tho Aurora, at present lying at Port Chalmers, on her voyago to the relief of the Ross Sea parly. Captain Davis was met by Mr. J. J. Kinsey, of Christchureh, who is associated with Mr. John Mill, of Port Chalmers, as-» New Zealand Committeo of Advice. Mr. Kinsey stated that it is not Captain Davis's intention at present to make a statement of any kind respecting the position to which ho has been appointed. [It was reported last week'that thrco of the officers of tho Aurora resented the supersession of Captain Stenkmsc by Captain Davis, and stated that they would feel reluctantly compelled to withdraw their services if the proposal was carried into effect.]
