An arrival in Auokland on Tuesday morning was the steamer Booral from Montreal. The vessel left Montreal on August 26. Captain A. V. Richardson lias with him:-Cliief officer, Mr. A. 0. Reid; second, Mr. W. Eastland; third, Mr. R. M'Kenzie; chief engineer, Mr. D. Nichol. The Booral belongs to the Commonwealth Government, and is chartered by the New Zealand Shipping Company. She was formerly the Gcrman.Australiaii Company's Oborhauseu, and was taken over in Hobart at the beginning of the war. The Booral will leave Auckland at 5
o'clock this Afternoon, and will arrive here on Sunday. She will then proceed on to Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne and) Sydney. The captain and many of the oineer.s and engineers arc ex-Union Company men. VICTORIA DELAYED. The HuddartrParlter Company adviso that the Victoria, which nrrivrd at Auckland at noon yesterday, a day late, will not leave Auckland until this afternoon, and is duo here on Sunday. The captain advises that owing to the thickness of the weather no sigbta courd be taken after leaving Sydney. The vessel will call at all tho ports on tho way down tlio const as usual, but after leaving here on Monday will proceed straight to Lyttelton. omitting the call at Dunedin, and will remain, at Lyttelton until Wednesday, October 18. She will then resume her ordinary time-table. TARAWERA FOR NORTH. The Union Company advise that tho Tarawcra, which left Lyttelton last evening, will arrive in port at 10 o'clock this morning. She has 318 tons of caTgo for Wellington, and will sail this afternoon for Napier, Gisborne.-and Auckland. She will take no cargo for cither Napier or Gisborne. GRYFEVALE FROM NEW YORK. From New York, via. Panama, the Gryfevale berthed at No. 14 Jervois Quay breatwork at 1.45 p.m. yesterday. The vessel left Now Y'ork on August 31. and arrived at Colon on September 9, about midnight. Somewhat of a 'record was put up the next day (Sunday), when 300 tons of coal were loaded in one hour and forty minutes. She left Colon that morning, and cleared the canal at 9.39 p.m. on Sunday evening.- An uneventful trip was experienced across the Pacific, and'the onlyvessel sighted was the City of Agra, at present unloading at southern ports. Three days off the New Zealand coast what la lenown as a "black north-easter" was run into, and although the vessel could have got into Wellington on Tuesday night tho fog was so thick that the lights could not be distinguished, and the snip drew off and waited until yesterday morning. ,Captain D. Clinton is in. charge of the Gryfevalc, and he has associated with him — Chief officer, Mr. T. A. Jacobsoit; second, Mr. T. Templeton; third, Mr. W. Donaldchief engineer, Mr. Simpson; second, Mr. Pettigrew; third, Mr. Gallic; fourth, Mr. Clark. The Gryfevale, according to present arrangements, will leave for Auckland on Saturday, and will then go on to Australian ports to complete discharge. Sho has 780 tons of, general cargo to discharge at Wellington. BAEONyJEDBORGH CHARTER OFF. For some reasons not yet explained the engagement arranged for the steamer Baron Jedburgh some time ago by tho Vacuum Oil Company, has been declared off. Under the charter the vessel was to load case oil at New York for New Zealand, but no doubt another vessel will be substituted. Tho Hinemoa came into port yesterday morning, after nearly completing work In Cook Strait. Yesterday afternoon sho was shipping stores for the southern lighthouses. If possible, sho will complete her work in tho Strait by Friday, and is timed to leave port for the south on Friday at 2 p.m. It will probably be two or three weeks before she gets back from the south. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Turakina will leave Auckland at noon to-day, and is duo here at midday on Saturday. The' Paloona leaves Dunedin to-day. and will arrive in Wellington, on Saturday. She has 800 ton 3 of cargo to land here, and an endeavour will be made to get the vessel away for Melbourne direct at 5 p.m. on Monday. Tho Karamu's departure' for New Plymouth has been delayed until 3 p.m. to- I day. ' After being delayed' in Australia for a considerable time, the Somerset is to leave Sydney to-morrow for Auckland and Wellington. Sho should arrive in WcUington on October 24. - After extensive cleaning, painting, and general overhaul the Orepuki came out of dock at Lyttelton on Saturday, and is due in Wellington on Friday. She leaves the same day for Terakolie, Nydia, Bay, and Nelson. Tho Komata., which left, Wellington late last evening for Westport, is due back here again on Saturday. Tho Kamona, which arrived in port yesterday, leaves for Greymouth on Saturday to load back to Wellington. The Kowhai was to leave Gisborne yesterday/afternoon. She is to call hero only for bunkering purposes, and will then proceed on to G-reymouth. The Kaikoura will leave Gisborne tonight, and will arrive in port on Satur-' day evening. Mr. -A. Dowell, mate, came ashore. from tho Wakatu yesterday, and Mr. Larsen, who has. been on holiday leave, rejoined. Mr. E. C. Sargison has. signed on a. special service ship as fourth mate.
