ANZAC CLUB AT FEATHERSTON

J,ust a little over six months ago, a committee of Wairarapa settlers decided that a properly-equipped club was needed in Featherston for the convenience and recreation of tho officers and men in training at the local camp, and for those who had returned from the front. A vigorous campaign for funds resulted in about £10,000 being raised, and no time was lost in purchasing the land required, and commencing tho erection of the club. Now in tho last stage towards completion; • this fino building, with its furnishings, is solid evidence of the good work done by tho promoters. In all respects the new club is the embodiment of all that experience aud a desire to cater. thoroughly for the entertainment of our citizen soldiers could. BUggost. Large reading and writing rooms, both for officers and men, with billiard tables, pianos, and gramophones, should supply all that is wanted for tho amusement of soldier visitors.- A well-stocked buffet will be provided, whero refreshments of all kinds may bo purchased, and liot.and cold baths will also bo available at a moderate cost. The. concert hall, with its ample stago and dressing-rooms, is a prominent foature. Here about GOO people can bo accommodated : at the entertainments which will'be given frequcntly; Electric, light; is installed throughout, and heating is provided by hot-water radiators. Altegcthor the olub will bo found in every Way suitable for its purpose, and the soldiers can be expected to niako full use of its many attractions when on leave in FeatherEton.

The club will bo opened on Monday next, October 16, at 2.15 p.m., when, the Hon. James Allen will' perform tho opening ceremony.
