He got into difficulties in a hole, aiid was helped out, unconscious, by.his companions. Efforts at resuscitation failed. The deceased leaves a wife. : SUICIDE AT CARTERTON. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Carterton, October 8. A single , man named Arthur Jones committed suicide yesterday afternoon by. hanging himself in a stable at the rear of an hotel. At the inquest this afternoon, before the District Coroner, a verdict of suicide by hanging was returned. Deceased was a labourer, well known in Masterton. He was 28 years of agc._.
