BOY SCOUTS' FLAG

'1 7 ■ TO BE. SENT TO THE BOYS OF FRANCE. The Boy Scouts of New Zealand wishing to do honour to their, French comrades combined to secure a tine silk tricolor for presentation. The flag has created great interest where it has been shown. It was received in 'Wellington yesterday from Auckland, where it was auctioned and re-presented, having secured a great sura for war relief purposes. It will be shown at the Basin Beserve this afternoon at the gathering promoted by the snorts bodies for the benefit of the Christmas Gift Fund. The flag measures six feet by four foot, while the flagpole is eleven feet long. This is surmounted by a globe of greenstone, variegated, and tipped with a gold-plated spike. The motto is "Fluctuat nee Mergitur," on a scroll, above a. castellated crown, fieur-de-lys and galleon on shield above, leaves with ribbon and cross. Tho moulded casket is ji fine piece of workmanship in moulded rimu, !>'nd is lined in blue, velvet.. A silver plate on the inside bears the insoriotion : "Presented bv the Boy Scouts of New Zealand to the Bov Scouts of Fran™ as a token of Conuvleship. 1916." The flag will be the centre of an interesting ceremony at the Basin Reserve after the arrival of the Boy Scouts this afternoon.
