; FOR CITIZENS' CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND. To-day "the big push" is to be liijulo to obtain funds to provide parcels for our lads who arc doing brave deeds for lis at the. front. . 'Thoy aro engaged in -"the great push" in Franco, and every-.-one should' think of this fact to-day." The streets in tho morning will ho lively with tho Camp Bund and Highland Pipers. In the afternoon crowds will be wending thoir way to the Basin Reserve, where an exceptionally fine' entertainment is promised. Four bands I ure assisting, and yaried sports, competitions, aiid side-shows liavo been arranged. Several events have been set apart for soldiers, and it is understood competitors will be numerous. Amongst the items should bo mentioned tlie parado of Boy Scouts, display of physical drill, Marathon -race, Highland dancing, soldiers' events, Association football match, _ ladies' hockey, hat-trimming competition for sailors and soldiers. Thora will also be side-shows and an, afternoon tea marquee. The committee hopes to receive such a liberal TcSponse from tho public that enough funds will be available to provide Christmas fare for the men in the camps here, as well as those at the front.-'

A feature of to-day's effort will be tho tour of a concert party through the oity. Several of the leading vocalists and entertainers have volunteered their services, and tlie Trentliam Blind will accompany the lorry. The Highland Brigade will be out in force, and their lorry, which will he suitably decorated, should receive popular recognition. Given fine weather, Wellington residents should have a lively time both in the morning and afternoon, in the way of entertainment.

Those who have not seen Norwood, tho hypnotist, will no doubt take the opportunity offered on Monday night, when the takings at tlie Grand Opera House will ho devoted to this fund. The show is most interesting and amusing. Anyone wanting a good laumh should not miss this. Members of the executive aro taking charge of the front of tho house, with control of . the entrance money.
