A. Browne, and J. G. Gardiner. i On the motion of the Mayor it was decided to close part of tho school load at Kaiwarra. Complaint was mado that turf on tho side or tho roads in certain parts of tho > borough had been removed. It was dcoidod to write to tha person, or persons, concerned drawing attention to tho fact that a by-law prohibits tho removal of turf without tho council's permission. If tho turf is allowed to bo removed the person doing 60 must replace it with grass seed. Li roply to an inquiry, tho City Engineer (Mr. \V. H. Morton) wrote stating that tho City Council had authorised the construction of crossings at tho intersection of Davis Street and Thorndon Quay, and that Bunny Street had been listed for ro-metalling. ' It is tho intention that when this work is dono an asphalt crossing shall bo constructed.
