The Wellington Provincial Executive bi the Farmers' Union has passed the following resolution:—"This meeting emphatically protests against the unwarranted rise in the freights on wool, produce, etc. The monopoly in shipping matters is a serious menace to the producer, and although farmers ara much against Government interference in commercial matters, if -such extortion is maintained, tho producers must sither urge the Government to: deal with the matter or promote a now shipping company and guarantee to ship frool, produce, etc., only,by such comftMiy's steamers."
