MONEY-ORDER TELEGRAM
BETWEEN NEW ZEALAND AND GREAT BRITAIN. : 'A system of money order telegrams Between New Zealand and Great BriJtain, through the medium of the Post and Telegraphy Department, was inaugurated on Monday last. The need of #a- simple system by Much comparatively small sums might he remitted quickly ho 6 no doubt been >felb by many people, especially since so many of our soldiers have been located in England. .On the first day the arrangement .Was available, eight money order telegrams were dispatohed, a plain .indication that the advantages were apprefckted and promptly availed of._ The charges are,' very low, viz., Bd. for each £1 or fraction, in addition to the transmission charges on the telegram. These, of course, vary with the addre'sa, but the average may be taken (as the cost of telegraphing 16 words, itne telegram may either be sent at brdiniry or at deferred rates. At tW latter rate 16 words would cost £1 Is. ■id., in' addition to 3d.,for each £1 • The low charges. for . soldiers' telegrams do ( not apply to money Order telegrams. The remitter of a money order telegram may havo a private message in plain language (English) added to the official telegram ■of advice on payment tor. the additional words. . ' Money order telegrams may be sent ifrom any money order office in New , Zealand, and those issued in Britain toill be paid at the money, order office in New Zealand nearest to the address flf the payee. .
