WAR BELIEF

9 MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION. Messrs. William •' Ferguson (chairman), Alex. Macintosh, C. A. Ewen, L. 0. H. Tripp, A. It. Atkinson, D. M'Lurcn, J. Lewis, E. J. Colley, C. M. Luke, and J. Macintosh were present at a meeting of tho Executive Committee of the War Relief Association held yesterday afternoon. The following names wero added to the list of lifo members of the association :—Thomas Wilson, E. J. Colley, Miss U. Towsloy, Charles A. Fletcher, It. 0. Wilbeffoss, J. Mitchell, G. G. Bridges, James MaoKorrow, James Marchbanks, J. A. Tripe, J. Mandel, W.-S. Short, A. E. Kernot. Twentylive names have been added to the list of annual members. Subscriptions wero ' received as follow:—Shipwreck Relief Society, £25; Onion S.S. Co. (collection on Manuka), £14 155.; "J.M.," £10: Union Clothing Co., £25; C. W. Smith, £1; W. M'Lay, £1 Is.; Savage Club, £70; total, £140. The statement of finance for September showed the following moneys in hand:—lmprest account, £245 16s. Bd.; War Fund account, £1273 18s. 4d.; list of investments, £80,000. Tho statement of total funds as at September 30 wero set • out as follow:—lnvestments, £80,000; current accounts, £1666 16s. 10d.; petty cash in hand, £10; total, £81,676 16s. Hkl. Amounts amounting to £82 18s. sd. wero passed for payment. It was decided to ask the trustees to transfer £1000 to tho imprest account for October. A report dealing with the business of tho Advisory Board of the Federated War Relief Societies, transacted at its recent meoting (which was fully reported at the time), was read and received. Tho chairman announced that it was set out in Rule 8 of the association that five members of the committeo should retire each year (the same being eligible for re-election), and proposed that a ballot should he taken there and then to decide which members should so retire. Tho ballot was conducted by the members of tho Press in attendance, the result being that the following members will retire at the association's year-end:—Messrs. William Ferguson.'L. O. H. Tripp, L. M. A. Rearden, O. A. Ewen, and D. M'Laren.
