CALLING OUT FOR REMEDY
"WHOLLY DISCREDITABLE." , "In my opinion tho arrangements in -Wellington lor the giving 'of technical I education are highly unsatisfactory,-?*- |. said the Mayor yesterday. "Tho space,. the accommodation, is quite inadequate. Things have reached a. stage -which is wholly discreditable, and Mr. La Trobe (the director of the school) and his £taff are seriously hampered, and their efforts to benefit tho students must in a great measure be'neutralised.' "The whole thing has simply got to that position where it calls out for a speedy remedy, notwithstanding that there is a war in progress. Something must be dono immediately to enable the school to be carried on under satisfactory conditions." Mr. Luke added that in other centres the people were not expected to carry on technical education with such lack of accommodation.
