The Union Steam Ship Company advise that the Moana which left San Francisco on September 13 for Wellington, via Par peete and Rarotonga,..should reach Wellington on October 5. ' • . WIMMEKA'S HOUGH TRIP. From Melbourne direct 4 'the HuddartParker Company's Wimmera arrived in port yesterday, after a trip of over six days. She left Melbourne at 4.30 p.m. on Boptcmber 26, and experienced very heavy gales from south to south-east, with heavy 6eas till passing Cape Farewell, after which she - experienced a strong northeasterly gale through the Strait. She brought 900 tons of general cargo for Wellington, including transhipments from* the Arabia, Indianic, Essex. Zcalandia, Loongana, Dimboola, Walton Hall. Port Lincoln, and KarmaJa. One hundred tons of cargo were ehortshipped at Melbourne, all for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Arrangements are being made to have it brought on by the Paloona, which leaves Melbourne on Wednesday. Tho Wimmera leaves for Melbourne, via southern ports, to-day at 5 n.m., and will leave Bluff finally on Saturday diroct for Melbourne. / , TUG -KOPUTAI FOR SYDNEY. The refitting of tho tug Koputai. recently bought by a Sydney firm from tho Otago Harbour Board, which has involved rather more timo and labour than was at first .anticipated, is rapidly drawing towards completion. It is expected that she will leave Port Chalmers for Sydney early this week. Oalls will probably bo made at Wellington and New •Plymouth before the little vessel leaves finally for Australia. It is underetood •that Captain Dunne intendß to steam as far as possible, and, if necessary, to'complete the journey under sail. , TIMARU HAHUOUR. At a recent meeting of the Tima-ru Harbour Board it was decided to lay up dredge 350 until the end of the year, as rccent soundings have shown that father© is no shoaling, and that there ie 30ft. of water at low tide. The chairman (Mr. F. J. Rolleston) said that since 1907 the board had spent £82,000 on dredging, exclusive of the capital cost of the. dredge, which was £35,000. Since the construction of the eastern mole, and the recent addition of it of 450 feet, there had not been the same necessity for dredging, and a largo amount would be saved in the future thereby. Lyttelton on Thursday; night cannot be replaced until Thursday nert, when the dock at Lyttelton will be ready to receive her. Messrs. Bannatvne and Co. advise that tho auxiliary schooner Hula, which arrived in port from Auckland, via Cape Maria and New Plymouth .'yesterday morning, will, after discharging some 1500 packages of explosives ex the Delphic, leave for Lyttelton. Ihinedtn, /and West Coast' to-day to finish discharging. Captain H. Platts, master of the Kini, has signed off the. vessel, end has . been replaced hy Captain D. M'Don'ald. Mr. A. «T. Duft, purser of the Itosamoiui, has signed off. Owing to rain tao'Storm has been delayed in Wanganui, and is now due'here ' to-day. She will eail,for southern ports : this afternoon. The ooastal steamer JoTin, which left i here on Satwrday for southern ports is j due back again next Saturday, and .will, lif here early enough, leave- again for Wang€nui that afternoon. -The Wootton is due from this evening, and will probably sail for that port again on Wednesday. Her timo of departure has not been definitely fixed.
