RECRUITING
ENLISTMENTS IN WELLINGTON. Recruiting under tho now*system is proceeding at tlio Town Hall, and nine additional men ivere pasesu as fit and attested yesterday. ;• The-proportion of medical rejections'is .still large. All tho men who are-accepted for service are required to take'the oath nt once, and are then given, warrants for their first day's pay. . Tlicy -receive also a leave pass,.. entitling them • to remain at their own homes and follow .their usual employment until tho mobilisation of the draft with which they liavo elected to enter camp. ■ ' Fifteen men have been passed as fit in Group 5 (Wellington City.'and Suburbs) during tho last two daye, six on Thursday, and nine yesterday. These: men are set down fori the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th Reinforcements, and even if they wero all available for tho next draft, they would not represent an adequate daily supply of recruits. The Group wants 248 men every four weeks, according to the present arrangement of quotas, or, roughly, 10 men for each recruiting day.
