THE MILK PROBLEM
Sir,—lu Tub Dominion of tho 21st instant I. notice that a deputation from the Milk Vendors' Association had waited on the Minister of Publio Health. Mr. Petherick, whom, I should say, judging from appearances, has never milked a cow in hie life, accuses the farmer of getting into: ,laokadaisical methods. 1 extend .Mr. Petherick an i invitation to spend a week in tho middle, of June nest, with free board and lodgings, - and a . guarantee, to call him at 4 a.m. bacK-morning, when ho will have a, full opportunity to examine those "lackadaisical" methods, and I pzedict at the. end of .the week lie.will bo only too glad to return to his city life, or oven face the German, machineguns. Regarding the reduction in the already low standard of milk,' namely 3.25, I consider it' wotdd be a great injustice to' go below this, as it would simply mean robbing the publio of the little cream they now have a right to expeot. As one of the members of a co-oporativo dairy company, wittf 40 suppliers, our averago tost for July was 4.3, August 3:9, and as far as Soptember has gone our manager informs ine.it is the same as August. Now, farmers, it behoves you to cooperate, get tho machinery working, and vend your own milk, and iso do away witli the parasite thi middleman, and these hot-air orators, and which will assure to the publio a better artiole at a lower c6st.—l am, etc., ONE .WHO MILES FOR A HOBBY.
