PORT OF WELLINGTON
MEETING OF HARBOUR BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held on Wednesday. There were present: Messrs. C. E. Danfell (chairman), C. W. Jones, J. G. Harkness, W. Cable, W. T. Hildreth, J. G. Cobbe, A. MacFarlane, E. Fletcher, M.P., R. E. Sinclair, It. A. Wright, M.P., J. W. M'Ewan, and A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P. Tho bank pass-books showed credits to current account of £40,754, imprest account £201, and on fixed deposit £60,000. Payments to the amount of £21,241 were authorised. It was decided to renew the agreement for tlie N tug service with, Mr. E. G. F. -Zotrab for two years from November 1, 1916. . , The engineer was authorised to construct a crossing on Waterloo _ Quay from'the entrance to . tlie WellingtonLyttelton ferry wharf to a point near Bunny Street for the convenience of the travelling public. Permission was granted to the Miramar Borough Council to construct protective; works on the foreshore at Seatoun, subject to the approval of tho plans by the Governor-in-Council, and on condition that tho Miramar Council undertakes to replace, to the satisfac-; tion of the board's engineer, any material dislodged by tho sea. It was decided to remit to the next Harbours Conference the question of dealing with vessels arriving with' largo quantities of explosives.
