The first meeting of the ueivly-elecfc-ed Dominion ICxecutiyo of the New Zealand Catholic Federation was hold this week. Mr. J. J. L. Burko was re-elected ohairman. Ib was decided that the parish of St. Gerard's should bo given representation on the executive. Official correspondence was read showing that the Catholio Held Service Fund has been registered tinder the War Regulations Aot, and pleasure was expressed at the response that has already boen made to- the appeal for subscriptions. A letter was read from tho Minister of Railways stating that ho could not seo his way to recognise the federation iu tho same way as friendly sooieties' in regard to railway concessions for picnics and similar occasions. Interesting reports were received from the diocesan councils regarding the progress of the-federation. Auckland reported that Monsignor Gillan is conducting a '"rccruiting" campaign throughout his district, with splendid results. Monsignor Mahoney will join in tho campaign at a later data. Prom Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin it was reported that an active propagandist was in progress, and" that good results had beeii achieved.
