; MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE. Mr. A..Marryatt occupied the chair ' at a meeting of tho Executive Committee of tho Sports Bodies' Christmas Gift Fund, held in the committee room of the ..Town Hall last evening. There was a full attendance of members. • In connection with the collection to bo made in the streets on Saturday morning, October 7j Mr. 'IV Shields thought they could not do better than employ tho ladies as they had done bofore, , with male assistants, lie also mentioned that thero were professional collectors who had done good work in tho past. Mr. G. S. Hill said that one man Mr. Shields had referred to wished to ,bo paid' for his services. That, Mr. Watkins said, was out of tho question. It was loft for members to suggost the names of ladies prepared to assist in the collection on the'morning of October 7. The chairman reported that the total amount received to date was £409 15s. Id. Tho result of last Saturday's football match was £14 odd. -Ther sub-committee for the sales of flags and (lowers reported that results had been most satisfactory. If they could arrange it, he thought it would ho one of the most successful entertainments in connection with tho effort. ' A letter was received from the Highland Pipe Band, promising the committee all assistance possible, and stating that the band would be in attendance at the fete on October 7. Colonel Potter wrote promising the services of tho Camp Band, and the Trontham Camp Band will also bo in attendance. Tho'Sports Committee was empowered to spend the sum of £20 in advertising the fete. .
