rfr — WELLINGTON COLLEGE OLD BOYS Tho annual report of tho Wellington College Old Boys' Cricket Club congratulates members upon the satisfactory financial position .of the' club, due principally to tho continued generosity of enthusiastic supporters who contributed to the'funds. Tho playing record was as good as could bo expected under the circumstances, and good promise was shown by several of the-senior eleven colts. Tho senior eleven, played; 10 matches, and secured five wins. The junior and the third elevens made a promising start, but both teams had to be withdrawn before the, close.of the season ■ to -unavoidable circumstances. The war continues to deplete tho playing ranks,' and since last season, one player has paid the "full penalty," (Sergeant E. A. Norris, who succumbed to wounds received in France. Norris was a silent worker in the club's interests, a keen player, : exceedingly popular, and his genial face will be sadly miseed. Always reliable, he "did his bit." 'Another serious loss has been sustained by the enlistmont of Treasurer A. P. Staco, whose unexcelled collecting efforts re-established tho club's strong finanoial position, and to whom tho club is greatly indebted. Sergeant Stace loaves with the 18th Reinforcements at an early date, and the committee ,wish him the best of luck and a safe return. Thanks are. due to Mr. K. H. Tucker for his excellent services as coach, and to Mr. Win. Martin,,' scorer to the first eleven; Tho finances of tho club show a cash balance in hand.of,£6 ss. lid., besides which the club has material valued at £30. WELLINGTON NORTH CLUB, Tho annual meeting of the Wellington North Club, was held,on Friday before n fair attendance of members, Mr. 'A. T. Bate being in. the chair.. The- annual Tcport showed that the club had had a fairly successful season, tho senior eleven ocoupying the position of runners-up for the championship. Officers for the ensuing season wero elected as follow:—President, Sir Francis Bell, K.C., M.L.C.; vice-presidents, Hon. A. L. Herdman, Hon. Dr. Collins, Messrs. A. T. Bate, C. R.. Smith, Jno. Duncan, C. A. Richardson, J. H. Fairbairn, A. Mee, T. S. Ronaldson, M: F. Luckie, and Dr. A. K. Newman; management committee, Messrs. Crombio, Hiddlestone, Wilson, .Wiren, and Wagstaffe; senior seleotion committee, Messrs. Crombie, ■'- Hiddlestone, and Wilson; club captain, Mi'. L. G. Wilson; auditor, Mr.'C. H. Manson; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. R. Barker; delegates to W.C.A., Messrs. Crombie, Wilson, and Luckie. Several new members wore elected.
