— ♦ ELECTORS' ASSOCIATION MOVING. Tho By-Laws Committeo reported to tho Wellington City Council last evening as follows: — . "That they have considered the letter received from tho Hataitai' Electors' Association, protesting against permission being granted for tho erection of dwellings in .Hntatai on small areas of land, which system tends towards_ the creation of slums. Tho. committee havo to recommend that tho association be informed, in reply, that no special treatment was accorded the ownor <\ f . the houses, which the committeo believe are referred to in the pro- ] test; that'strict compliance with tho bylaws was' insisted upon. Tho bylaws applying to Hataitai aro similar to those applying to tho other residential portions of the city. "Tho committee desire the council to point out to the Hataitai Electors' Association that only as lato as April of this year, upon the recommendation of this committee, the council resolved to approach Parliament, with a view of obtaining special legislative power to require that all subdivisions, whether involving the constructon of a road or not, should, before being accepted for I deposit, receive tho approval of tho council. At the present timo the City Solicitor is drafting a by-law requiring each dwollinghouso to have at least 3000 square feet of laud available." Tho suggestion was adopted.
