Villages, hills, and woods have been taken and retaken again and again, but slowly and surely, and at frightful cost to the Germans, the Russians are wearing down tho opposition., Li tho Balkans the Serbian victory at Fiorina has developed info a great turning movement of the Allied Franco-British-Serbian forces, and . the advance guards are only sis miles from Monastir, which tho Bulgarians are hastily evacuating. Dispatches from the Italian front give some idea of tho terrific nature of the great battle of the Isonzo. The latest development in Greece is that the Entente Legations have • "cut" the Foreign Minister of the new Greek Cabinet, while it is officially stated in the columns of the Athens newspaper "Patras" that the Allies have washed their hands of Greece so far as her cooperation in the war is concerned. A cry of "More men!" has been raised at Home, where it is considered that a million men are necessary to -replace the losses and maintain the "Great Push" at its full vigour and weight. The British Government is appointing a committee to "comb out" tho Civil Service for eligibles. •
