Major Hume was formerly in the D Battery, New Zealand Artillery. He has been at; the front since he left with the Main body of the Expeditionary Force. Mr. Alex. J. Geary, engineer and ■ town clerk of Feilding, has been eleoted'a member of the Institute of Muni-.' cipal Engineers of England. Mr. Geary, who is the eldest son of Mr..A. Geary, of H.M. Customs, Wellington, was. born and educated in Wellington, andbefore he left for Feilding he was ohief clerk in the City' Electrical Lighting Department. He is a member of tha Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand. Mr. P. ,W. Woodroffe, who has occupied position of secretary and manager of tho Civil Service Chartered Club for the past ten years, is about to retire in order to be able_ to devote the .'whole, of his time to private business. His reputation as an , actuary led to his being called to fill appointments in London and in New York, and during the past two years ho acted as consulting actuary to the Equitable Insurance Company of l\ew York. • Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Kenny, of 247Tinakori Road, have been advised that their eon, Gunner J. H. Kenny, wlici was reported wounded 6omo time back; , is now convalescent. Mr. C. J. Parr, who has been tour-' ■ ing the Homo coiintrv and France as * member of-the Now Zealand Paxliamentarv party, hopes to reach Auckland about October 16 with' Mrs. Parr, who joins him in Canada. Reference to the death of the lateSir G Maurice O'Rorke was made at ■ the meeting of the Auckland University College Council, when tho followresolution was passed: "That this council records its deep sense of the valuable services rendered to the cause of national education in New Zealand b T tho late Hon. Sir George Maurice O'Rorke, who from the foundation of the Auckland University College until tho day of his death was chairman oj its governing body.
