■ The death occurred in a private hospital in Christchurch on Sunday of Mrs. Collins, wife, of Mr. J. W. Collins, secretary to tho New Zealand Board of Trade. In company with, her husband. Mrs. Collins was returning from a visit to Duuediu, and,on the way was seized with serious illness, her death ensuing. The late Mrs. Collins who was tho third daughter of Mr. Frederick Jones, of Wellington, leaves a family of three young children, aud her loss will be regretted by many friends, both in Wellington aud Christchurch. The first of a scries of Red Cross working evenings was held in the Newtown Library on Monday evening by tho mombers of tho Wellington South Nursing Division and their friends. A large quantity of hospital requisites was prepared, and will bo sent to tho St. John Ambulance Brigade and Bed Cross Depot, in, Nathan's Buildings.
