ROSENEATH RATEPAYERS
BEAUTIFYING THE ESPLANADE.
A well-attended meeting of the Rose* noatli and Oriental Bay Ratepayers Association was held last evening, Mr. T. .Ward presiding. • The City Council wrote stating that it had been decided to make a crossing over the cycle-track at Clyde Quay wharf. It was also promised that as soon as the wall at Oriental Bay was completed the road between Hay Street and the tram terminus would be per* manently formed. As the bathing season is approaching, the association decided to writo again to the City Council Asking that tho work in connection 1 with the new bathing shed at Ballena Bay be put in hand at once. - Consideration was given to the work proceeding on the Esplanade !»t Oriental Bay, and great satisfaction was expressed at the fine progress being made with the wall. It wus suggested that as the association was interested in this work, it would be opportune to approach the citizens at Wellington with a view of inducing them to donate seats'-aud lamps for beautifying the Esplanade. A strong committee was appointed to inquire into the matter, and it was decided to donate one seat and one lamp to commemorate the important work now being done in the district. ' ' Some time, ago tho City Council at the association's request placed a seat on Lindrum Terraco. This seat is so much appreciated by elderly people, as its frequent use shows, that a membor has donated another seat to be placed higher up the Terrace.'
