——t — AWARDS TO AUSTRALIANS. Tlio following Australians have been awarded Victoria Crosses: — Second-Lieutenant Ulackburn, for leading a drive which captured 370 yards of trench. • Private William Jackson, who, after a raid, twice returned and assisted wounded companions. Tlio second time one of his arms was blown off. After it was dressed he returned a third time. _ Private John Leak, for distinguished bravery in bombing and capturing trcnches. Private Martin O'Meara, for repeatedly going out under the heaviest -fire to' rescuc wounded men. He also carried ammunition' through a heavy barrage, and throughout showed utter contempt, for danger. Fifteen other Crosses include thnso granted to Private M'Fudgean, of the Irish Rifles, who flung himself on two bombs "from which the safety-pins fell, and was blown to pieces, but be saved many comrades; Private Miller, Lancaster Regiment, who delivered an important message, despite terrible woiwds, and fell dead at bis officer's feet.
