SHACKLETON'S PLANS
THE, MAROONED ROSS SEA PARTY. A-nstralian-N-ew Zealand Cable Association. (Rec. September 17, 11.5 p.ih.) • London, September 17. Sir Ernest Shackleton has cabled from Chile stating that ho is hastening the settlement of matters _ connected with the Weddel Sea party iu order to reach Australia as soon as possible. It is pointed out hero that the Australian ana New Zealand Governments are generously repairing and refitting t.ho Aurora. It is thought that it will'ho inadvisable to dispatch the Aurora before tho middle of 'December at the earliest,, judging from the experience of previous expeditions. Sir Ernest. Shackleton feels the keenest personal responsibility for the Ross Sea party. It is recalled that in one of his earliest letters, after his first.return from Elephant Island, 1 he .declared that he would not rest until ho had done everything possible to savo tho uiarooned men of both parties.
