A PLANTER OP ISLANDS
A WEIRD AND WONDERFUL BUSINESS. " At last the very man tho world has been looking for lias been found—the one who can create islands and continents out of the waste ocean spaces. It has always been considered by many .that; there is too much ocean and too little land for the peoples of earth, but precisely how the difficulty could be overcome has never been known— until now. The news was received yesterday by Mr. 11. D. Yickery, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, who lost 110 timo in proclaiming the joyful news to all whom it may concern. Tho communication camo in the form of a printed postcard, addressed as follows:—"The Stock Exchange, or iho Chamber of Commerce, care of tho Chief Police Officer, Wellington, New Zealand." Printed on tho back is tho all-important news, which runs:— "NOTICE. "My rights of oceans, being first claimant thereto, in respect- of planting islands on mid-North Atlantic and on other oceans to serve as cities or otherwise to . the ■ world by my patent or by other manner, have been proclaimed by Heavenly Spirits throughout the world in .Tune, 1916. Confirmation thereof conkl be given. Offers arc invited. "(Sgd.) TAN HONG POH, "57\Hill Street, Singapore. S'.S. "Singapore, August 4, ,191 G." There, the secret is out. Mr.'Poll is evidently quite willing to enter into negotiations with peoplo to supply thorn with islands 011 any old ocean they might fancy. Moreover, lie is prepared to give, any confirmation as to liis rights to do this great work, as acquired by proclamation from the Heavenly Spirits. Mr. Vickery thinks that such out-of-the-way creative genius ia deserving of every encouragement.
