The Order of Merit is bestowed on Sir John Jellicoe, and, arising out of the recommendation of Sir John Jellico.e's supplementary. dispatches, a large number of honours have been awarded. Those include: — ' Knight of the Bath : Admiral Beatty. Commanders of the' Royal Victorian Order: Rear-Admirais ljvan-Thomas, Pakenham, also, posthumously-, Arbuthnot and Hood.-, • - Thirty-three Companions, including Rear-Admirals. .Ernest! Gaunt, . Duff,, Leveson, Kennedy, • Cetlme; E.-H.: M...Nicholson,* Grand Cross of St. .Michael: ViceAdmiral' Sir Cecil :Burnev. Commanders of St. Michael: ViceAdmiral Sir Jerram. Rear-Admirais Sir •JL'S.turde'e' and C.-E.-Madden. •'"•Forty-ttro Distinguished 'Service 4 Orders, thirteen Distinguished Service Crosses, including the ■ Rev. Anthony Pollen, a Catholic chaplain;'wlio:. carried burned men from the deck, though himself severely burnt.'' Admiral - Beatty's captains'- 'were largely rewarded.' Ghat-field, of ', : the Lion, received the Companion of St. Michael; Cowan, of ' the Princess Royal; 'Polly, of the Tiger; Heaton Ellis, of the Inflexible: and, Green; who commanded and fought'-' in- the -New, Zealand with'great skill and gallantry, also.three light,cruisers' captains, receive the Companionship of the Bath. - Dannreutber, who controlled the Invincible's fire with overwhelming result on tho enemy until the Invincible blew up, receives the" D.S:O. The Wa'rspite -figures prominently in the honours.Captain...Philjpotts receives the Companionship' of -tlio Batli for .'splendidly .handling his., battleship after the" steering gear broke down; also, when nearing the Firth of Forth, much damaged, three submarines attacked, .and Captain. Pliillpotts brilliantly brought his ship'into port safely. _ , :Victoria 'Crosses 1 - awarded -Com-' mandcr Edward Bingham, of the destroyer Nestor, now-a,prisoner of.-war, for gallantry in -leading 'his' - Hwision against destroyers and then against battliMiruisers, and when finallylie sighted the Battle Fleet, though, followed by the Nicator, the sole'remaining destroyer of his division, 1 'hfe closed-with-in three thousand yards, - with' "daunt-' less courage, in order to fire, torpedoes. The Nostdr.- and Nicator.sustained..the concentrated fire of the. High Seas Fleet's secondary batteriesr" 'flic' Nestor subsequently sank. ■ , , .- ,- " Major Francis' Harvey, "of."the marines, who received the Victoria Gross, was/mortally wounded and was almost the sole survivor. Tyrwhitt, Twenty-four Croix d'Office, including -Commandore Lionel Halsey, '.. Captain Green; and fifty Chevaliers. A hundred petty officers and men wer« awarded the Medale Militaire.
