Mr. John llorris, of Miramar,- and was only 24 years of age. Before leaving for the front lis was employed by Thk' Dohixiox as assistant linotype mechanic. News was received in Wellington by cablegram on Wednesday of the death : in action, in France, of Sir. ■ Alfred Wrigglesworth, son of the. lato . Mr. Wrigglesworth, photographer,- of 'Wellington for many years. The cablegram was received by a Wellington friend from Mrs. Wrigglesworth, mother of the late soldier, who is now in Glasgow. Mr. Wrigglesworth was her only son. ■ - The Isle of Man "Times" of June 24 announces the death at Foxdale, a decayed mining village in that island, of the Rev. J. B. Morton Barnes, who will be remembered as a resident in Wellington and Petone eight or nine years ago, when he conducted'a church which was a religious denomination all by itself, and wrote frequent letters to the Press on all kinds of subjects. Mr. Barnes had been resident in the Isle of Man for a few years, and carried on n little school at Foxdale. An old identity of Masterton, in the person of Mr. Edward Jones, familiarly known as "Captain" Jones, died on Thursday night at the age of 85 years. The deceased, who was a native of Kssex, had. resided in the Wairarapa for over fifty years, and was one of .the first hotolkeepevs in Masterton. ' Mr. Arthur Hinton, examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, Loudoll, with his gifted wife, Miss'Katherine G'oodson (a iiotcd virtuoso of the pianoforte), left Auckland- yesterday for the south. Tliev are due in Wellington on October 10.
