' COUNTRY RACING CLUBS. PROTEST AGAINST:A TAX. ... By Telegraph—Press ■ Association. Auckland, September 15. A meeting, of representatives of the Country Racing Clubs was held to T day to discuss the imposition of income tax on racing, trotting, and 'iiuiit clubs using the totaiisator. Tho chairman, Mr. A. Bruce, of tho Thames,, described this tax (in view of the fact that racing clubs wero compelled to pay two and a half per writ, on the. gross, revenue, and had contributed generously to patriotio objects) as unjust and. inequitable. He was supported by- Mr. E. W. Alison nnd others present. It was finally resolved to co-operato with tho Sports Protection League in tho latter's efforts to prevail upon tho Government to remove the tax. A WORLD'S RECORD .
