« FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly • winds, givinE place to more variable breezes soon. Fair weather is probablo generally, but unsettled at times in the southernmost districts. Barometer, rise further, but a fall is due to follow shortly in thq south. The barometer has risen everywhere, and high southerly winds have prevailed, with decreasing force, oicept in the northernmost districts. Cold and showery weather was experienced last night. snow falling on some ol the higher levels, but except for scattered showers conditions have improved to-day. 1!. V. PEJIBEBTON. Greytown, September 15—On Thursday night it snowed heavily, and it lies on tho lower ranges of the Tararuae and Maoingarakis. Cold southerly, with rain and hail in morning.
