BISHOP SPROIT'S SERMON

Sir,—l am sure, there are many who, will hail with . delight the sentiments expressed by tRe Anglican Bishop of Wellington and'approve the prominence you give to the subject in your leading columns. If the thoughts expressed should deliver somo ecclesiastics from the hidebound exclusiveness which is constantly harking back to the intolerant traditions of, the past, and enable them to give due recognition to their fellow Christians, the results will be nptliing but good. _ But we must not have bishops declining to meet Christian ministers who happen to be called by another name. We must hear the .last of the wriggling which says: "I get out of the difficulty by meeting them as citizens, not as ministers." The first step towards the end which the Bishop desires is a due recognition of the other man's conscience.—l am, CHRISTIAN TOLERATION.
