A LITTLE EXPERIENCE

CLYDE QUAY SCHOOLBOYS AT THE FRONT. Corporal Guy Little, of "Wellington, a well-known yachtsman (now. wounded), writes interestingly of conditions in tho firing-line in the north of France: —"Wo hare had a shift to another part of the line, but are going back in a few days. . I think we must liave been sent here for a rest, as it is so quiet. You can look over .the trenches quite safely; in fact, of a quiet morning just at daybreak we can have a few words with ore another and with the enemy. Most -of tlio Germans can speak a little English, enough to make themselves understood. The conversation is taost-ly confined to' asking each other to 'Hop their frames out,' and calling one another petliames. It is all very funny and very queer. However, all good tliingß come to ail end, and we are off back to the .old 'possie' (position), where, if von liold your hands up; you can be sure of getting a bullet through them before you could say 'Jack Robinson.' I met somo of the Barrett boys from next Clyde Quay School. There are hundreds of Clyde Quay School old boys here. One meets them every day. . . . Who do you think wo had up* in the trendies the other day? -No loss than the Hon. Sir James Carroll, Mr. Pari 1 , and two or three other members of Parliament."
